It is getting closer to Fair time in Rhea County.

2012 marks our 5th year since restarting this remarkable clebration of our rich agricultural heritage.The Rhea County Fair Board and volunteers are very excited about this years fair. As in years past, the Rhea County Fair continues to grow and 2012 will see new events, exhibits, and entertaiment. We are proud to announce that this years fair will host a major carnival with over 30 rides, games, and food booths.

Statistics released for 2011 show that nearly 3 million people attended county and regional agricultural fairs across the state of Tennessee, and generated more than 11 million dollars in gross receipts. Tennessee Department of Agriculture Commissioner Julius Johnson had this to say about county fairs. “Fairs are a tradition in the agriculture industry and showcase the best our farms and communities have to offer. Tennessee fairs have a positive impact on local economies as well as the agricultural contributions and education they provide to visitors”.

The dates for this years fair are August 28th through September 1st. Make plans now to attend this years fair and join in the celebration of 5 years of family fun, fair foods, exhibits, and wholesome entertainement.
